Does Fortnite Aim Assist Really Make A Difference?
Fortnite is a third-person shooter so ideally using aim assist would be a given. Aim assist can be a blessing and a curse. It can help you with hitting tough shots on opponents. On the other hand at times you find the auto locking mechanism a bit of a pain. Imaging getting in a gun fight and you flick the stick toward your opponents. Well when aim assist kicks in sometimes you find yourself over aiming and completely missing your target. I have been playing fortnite on xbox for a long time and I have tried playing both ways. I can honestly say that aim assist in fortnite plays a huge role in the game. At times I find my bullets acting as sort of a magnet to my target. Aim assist in fortnite can also come in handy when looking for opponents. Often times you find that your cross-hair will pull toward an opponent before you even made eyes on them. This is a very good thing when you encounter fortnite season 1 bush campers. I might be making aim assist in fortnite seem a a little bit overpowered. I can reassure you that it isn’t at all. Aim Assist is a balancing feature to combat the inaccuracy of using a joystick. That brings me to my next topic!
Is it fair to have aim assist in a cross platform lobby?
In the most straight forward answer “no” only because of that fact that it becomes a playing field issue. Let me explain the problem with cross-platforming is that it is hard give everyone a leveled playing field. PC player complain about console players having aim assist making it easier to hit tougher shots. Console players complain about it being easier to build on PC. Well you really can’t win in my personal opinion I don’t mind that console players get aim assist. I would much rather not have aim assist when playing on PC. I love fortnite and cross-platforming. I think cross-platforming has a long way to go in the future. I remember being in my teens being the only one in my group of friends that had a ps3. We would always talk about “What if the Xbox and PlayStation could play online together. Fast forward a couple years and here we are. Even though this is just the beginning of cross-platforming.
Console player should really be thankful that fortnite added aim assist. It can really balance out using a joystick to aim. I think that aim assist is a completely fair concept. I don’t see it being removed from shooting games anytime soon. I always like that fact that it is an option. I understand that there probably is that one player out there that honestly can’t play with aim assist.
