Being a point guard means that you are essentially the head play maker of the team. You are the one bringing the ball of the court and setting up plays for your teammates to get open. So I always recommend some type of passing and ball handing in your archetype. Because dimer is a big badge this year because the shooting is a lot harder this year than previous years. I recommend.
Being a pure play maker means you have high ball control and passing accuracy. Which is a essential at the point guard position. You get HOF dimer which is huge for helping your teammates knock down their shots. HOF pick and roll maestro so if your a part of a team that runs pick and rolls this badge is always a big one for you. The downside with this build is that you can’t score as effectively as some dual archetypes. Your finishing at the basket in average and same goes as your three point shot. Three point shooting is very important in every 2K.
One of the most popular point guard builds out there. Because it gets the all gold play making badges and silver shooting badges. You can’t handle the ball as well as a pure playmaker but you add an extra ability of shooting the three ball. This build struggles at finishing at rim.
Playmaking Shot creator
This build is probably my favor build because I like being able to take moving shots. This build you get HOF ankle breaker. You can finish at the rim better than the other two builds but you can’t shot the three ball as well as a playmaking sharpshooter. This build gets gold pick and roll maestro. That badge plus being able to take moving shots is unguardable.
For shooting guards I definitely recommend a shooting archetype. Because if your a shooting guard that can’t shoot your kind of a waste of VC. Unless you mostly like running park than I recommend any build you can dominate with.
Definitely at any position the pure sharpshooter( excluding pointguard and center) is the most used archetype because you can’t go wrong with being able to shoot the three. If your playing team pro-am and your running a 5 out offense and the point guard is playing ISO basketball you are guaranteed to score everytime. because if someone attempts to help you can just kick it out for the three pointer.
This is one of those risky build because passing and ball handling suffers alot with this build but that also goes for a pure sharpshooter build. This build you get all your gold shooting badges and silver slashing badges. Like I said you want to be able to shoot the three. But with the added slashing ability you can keep your opponent guessing.
I can be a little biased with these build because I run small forward but I recommend a lot of things for a small forward build. I think running small forward you have the most freedom at choosing your archetype.
This is the build that I use. I can consistently green 3 point shots even tho I don’t have gold shooting badges. This build is faster than putting slashing second and it finishes at the rim a lot better. You don’t suffer that much by only having silver shooting badges. Your ball handling is awful so if you like to dribble don’t make this build. Passing suffers a lot two no half court passing for this build.
Point Point forward
A lot of pro-am team run with a pure point forward and have him as their guard. So that they can have a overall bigger team. Because the pure point forward is the fastest SF build you can make so playing defense on one is going to be hard.
I recommend some kinda of rebounding power forward just because being able to get board as a build man is huge!
If you want to spread the floor I recommend this build.
If you want to dominate the post I recommend this build.
Hands down their is no question that you should have some kinda of rebounding in your center because rebounds are huge in this game.
I’ve seen glass cleaner dominate the paint. They get a lot of put backs. you also get HOF brick wall for setting screen even though that badge isn’t that big this year.
Pure Athletic finisher
I say this build on because you get a lot of contact dunks. If you get the rebound in the post you guaranteed dunking the ball after that . you get HOF pick and roller so if your playing the pick and roll your that much more effective.
Pure Rim Protecter
Easily one of the most overpowered builds. The pure rim protector is perfect going up against a center build that can’t shoot. That means you can sit in the paint the whole time and prevent any layups or dunks. I wouldn’t suggest making a pure defender unless it was a center build.
