The 10 Highest Selling Nintendo 64 Games
I’ve been pretty hard on Nintendo the past several years but I have to admit the Nintendo Wii looks pretty impressive. But the reason I’ve been hard on Nintendo is the selection of games has not been great. Look no further than the top 10 selling Nintendo 64 games of all-time to see that Nintendo churns out the same game over and over again.
10. Star Fox 64
Copes Sold – 3.32 Million
Star Fox 64 on the Nintendo 64 was a pretty sweet game and Star Fox is one of the few characters that Nintendo hasn’t gone overboard with yet.
9. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
Copies Sold – 3.36 Million
I know the Zelda games are quite popular but personally I didn’t like many between the original and Wind Waker.
8. Donkey Kong 64
Copies Sold – 3.77 Million
I love the Donkey Kong arcade game and even Donkey Kong Jr. Donkey Kong Country was a blast but by the time Donkey Kong 64 came out Nintendo was overdoing the Donkey Kong games.
7. Pokemon Stadium
Copies Sold – 3.8 Million
Anything with the word Pokemon on it is going to sell millions of copies, so don’t expect Pokemon to go away any time soon.
6. Diddy Kong Racing
Copies Sold – 4.43 Million
Here’s an original idea. Let’s take one of our Nintendo characters and give him his own racing game. Oh wait…
5. Super Smash Bros.
Copies Sold – 4.9 Million
At the time the Super Smash Brothers game was a new idea so kudos for them on that one, but I have no desire to now play Super Smash Brothers 413.
4. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Copies Sold – 7.6 Million
The Ocarina of Time was a decent, but not great, game. It was at least one of the few Nintendo 64 games worth owning.
3. GoldenEye 007
Copies Sold – 8 Million
GoldenEye should probably go down as the best Nintendo 64 game of all-time. It’s a shame it isn’t the top selling Nintendo 64 game, but not at all surprising.
2. Mario Kart 64
Copies Sold 8.47 Million
Not only did the Nintendo 64 have a Diddy Kong Racing game but there was another Mario Kart game too. What character are they going to use next? Kirby Kart?
1. Super Mario 64
Copies Sold – 11 Million
No surprise here. Super Mario 64 had the advantage of being bundled with the Nintendo 64, although it probably would’ve sold out everything else even if it hadn’t.
