Terraria Strategy Guide

Usually, games are about survival from a tribe or defending a throne. Terraria is no different compared to those games. It focuses on an extension of using parts found from deep digging and spelunking to build new structures, items, and machines. The game happens in a wide 2D side-scrolling surroundings.

Character and World Creation
In your first game, select the Softcore Difficulty as your level of difficulty. This would be plenty challenging. In your World size, pick Small and Medium worlds to access easier searching of essential components.

Seek Shelter
Terraria is on a day or night cycle of operation. The monsters that are scattered around the Overworld during night time is more dangerous than the monsters during day time. If you are a beginner, you have to construct a shelter and make it very simple.

House
In the background layer, you should use your Axe to cut down some trees. Next, find an area in the ground that is a large level. Use your Pickaxe to flatten the ground if you can’t find a comfortable site. Then, put a wooden floor with a measurement of 20 blocks long and lay it down. Step on the platform that you’ve placed and built a roof and walls to completely enclosed your character and setting a little space above you.

Build
You are not safe yet. You need to create a wall in the background layer to seal your new house. You need a Work Bench to craft this, enter the menu, and select Crafting. You only have limited options there, one of which will be the Bench. When you are very near to your bench, it will unlock a list of new menu options, including the background panels of Wooden Wall.

Creating a lot of panels is a must. Observe all the cracks and do not leave it unfixed because something dangerous probably will get in.

Inside your house, you will be considered as a prisoner. To build a Wooden door, use the Work Bench, and with your axe to build a three-block high gap to place in the wall. As long as you always shut your new door, monsters cannot open it because it is new, so nest to always keep it shut.

Next, craft a Wooden Hammer and Wooden Sword. The Wooden Hammer can help you clean up after the messes that you’ve made by destroying crafted items. It is also the handier tool of the early game.

The Wooden Sword will be more effective as a weapon compared to your default Copper Shortsword because of an area for a wider attack.

Night
Your house is dark. You have to look for a slime outside, even if it is dark. Once you’ve found it, kill it for Gel. When you’re done making the Gel, go back to your Bench and craft a few Torches. Put one inside your house to let you have a bright and nice house.

Essential Tools
It is given that your Work Bench helps you with a few nifty things, but you also want to widen your Crafting options. By this, you can build an Iron Anvil and a Furnace. You’ll need Iron Ore and Stone; it means that you have to start digging.

Surface Copper
You have to eliminate these smiles for the Gel they drop. The next step is crafting some torches before anything else. 50 torches will do. You will have to wander outside, but in doing so, you must take it carefully. Do not just start digging done directly. That stage of the game is usually prone to you falling into trouble.

Shaft
You can switch to horizontal excavation after digging a twenty-block deep stair-step shaft. Explore the caves that you can find below or at the top of your shaft. Search these caves for thin walls that may lead to other caverns. You must look for pockets of Iron and Copper.

Mine
Using bottlenecks in the tunnels, kill any Slimes you can find to keep yourself out of harm. Do not be afraid to be trapped between two enemies. If so, you have to throw up or create a dirt wall that will be used to block passageways that are very dangerous.

If you’re in Terraria, it takes a length of time to drown. Water does not flow upward, so you can repeatedly hop and fill in your lungs with air.

Air pocket
When you’re underground, and you die in Hardcore Difficulty, the money or items that you have dropped will remain on the same spot you were killed. Follow the breadcrumb Torches to go back to your site of demise and reclaim your gear.

If you already have 20 stone, go back to your headquarters and craft a Furnace.

If you have sufficient Iron Bars, craft an Anvil to reveal a new world of Tools, Weapons, and Armor.

Preparing for Battle Start with using your metallic resources if you already have Anvil to create combat gear. As long as you don’t wander out too deep in the third subterranean Strata, the tools will equip you well against the enemies you will likely encounter.

These consumable items restore Health upon eating and spawn in patches across the Overworld. Upgrade your arsenal as you venture more into the game.

Invite Neighbors. You’re the best-equipped general contractor in Terraria, so neighborhood planning should be done. Those kind people will provide you useful services if all varieties.

Merchant. You should build houses near your home. You need to add furniture for NPC’s to make themselves feel at home. A single Work Bench and Wooden Chair is enough. Place a source of internal light, like a Torchwork, and have a space for an NPC to stand. On your right side, there is a Housing Menu for your Inventory screen that lets you test houses for residence suitability. Use it to check your house and secure that it is good for guests.

Merchant Talk. Build four houses near your home early in the game. Once you’re done and NPC’s loved it, they will occupy for residency and leave you to use services like items.

A huge Dungeon at the ends of the map awaits treasures for you, and there is also the threat of The Corruption, a wide environmental decay of the world. When you explore underground, find many open caves. Look for Silver, Iron, Gold, and Crystal Hearts. Crystal Hearts reveal Life Crystal when shattered, which grants a permanent Heart Container for the player. Keep an eye out for Golden chests. They contain powerful potions and magical items.

Path to the Eye
You have to slay the Eye of Cthulhu to progress further into Terraria. The eye’s death will trigger a series of game events. Dryad NPC will appear once Cthulhu is dead. There are two options to summon the Eye of Cthulhu If you are ready to fight him. First is the direct path of seeking the Demon Altar in your journey. Although hidden, these Altars have strong purple glows that are evidently seen in cave walls that are located in subterranean areas.

Demon Altar
Use that eye during night time to summon the Cthulhu boss. The lenses can be gathered from the Demon Eyes. Another way of calling to Cthulhu is to satisfy a few in-game conditions. Once these are, the Eye will show up on random nights. Be careful in evenings when you’re above ground and be ready to fight.

Preparing for the Eye
Have a stock of Lesser Healing Potions from Chests. Decent armor (full Silver set)
500 Shuriken stocks. It is a star-shaped throwing metal from pots and available in Merchant; it is cheap, fast, and recoverable. 100+ Silver Bow, Flaming Arrows. Flaming Arrows may be slowly fired but gives a great amount of damage to the opponent and is easy to handle. It is also dirt and cheap

This will be found either in a chest or chest or in craft or crafts. It can let you see the enemies’ location.

Thorn Potion (Damage Taken returned to attackers)
Ironskin Potion (plus 8 armor grant)
Health Regeneration Potion Archery Potion (Damage will increase and arrow speed)
Good Terrain.

The Eye of Cthulthu fight has two geographical concerns: illumination and mobility. Torches and flat surfaces will see you through, but the combat is easier. To boost your mobility, find a flat, long surface with screen-wide space. You can level some dirt, but you can also fight up on the roof. Space will be easier for you to go to and fro and avoid the attacks of Cthulthu.

Fully illuminate the battle area with artificial light. Cthulthu is a two-ton flying eyeball in the night, so he is more disadvantaged than with light. You have to make pillars which are two in number and as high as the sky. You have to put in on the sides of the base, lined with the torches. Create lined torches at the bottom of the field too. It will provide enough lumination for you to see where Cthulhu appears and has added effects of having projectiles that you can recover within the area of combat so you can arm yourself again during battle.

Grappling Hook

Set your hot-bar up for easier access to healing items and ranged weapons.

The Eye does not come every night; a message will warn you in random time of the night, and you’ll have just a few seconds to get ready before it shows in front of you.

Triple-check your Suspicious Looking Eye after nightfall, equip an item, then use it. From there, you will be able to hear a roar which is as loud and as terrible as that of a lion.

This first form of attack of the Eye makes sweeping dives towards you while releasing from its Iris some smaller flying eyes. They can easily be killed with Shuriken and arrows. Move side to side under the eye, never stopping to fire upon the location of its pupil to slay the smaller ones as they are emitted and take damage to the boss too. This form takes a while to defeat in this way. Have your position to easily dodge to your right or left when the eye comes down and use your potions to recover your injuries. You should remember that healing items have their cool-down period, so use it accordingly.

The terrains will be the passageways of the Eye, and it is without any prohibition from anything else.
Use the pillars that you’ve built as grapple points with the Grappling Hook that can let you swing and jump above the Eye as he attacks.

When you did a sufficient amount of damage, the Eye change forms and will start spinning. He’ll remain in that position when he makes that action, so keep attacking him. He will evolve now to a Venus flytrap. From this form, his defenses are lower and no longer emits minions, but he is more aggressive and faster. Keep blasting away and dodging his attacks and use your potions as you can. You can grapple over him by jumping if you do it quickly. Cthulhu Fhtagn will explode in a firework of useful items, dropping Demonite Ore and Corruption Seeds. The appearance of Dryad has been triggered by his death. Create a house for her as soon as she appears.

TIPS and HINTS in TERRARIA

You should never fight a boss unless you made all the preparations to fight it.
As you can see, there is a lot of dynamite with Denomite, and you have to blow them up. The purpose of this is to achieve shadow orbs.
Do not go in the water unless there is a way back for you to get air.
Use many torches when you are mining for illumination.
Then the next thing is blocking up those caves that have been excavated.
Do not burrow unless you have blocks to get back to the surface.
Chop the tree’s bottom part, so the tall tree falls.
